What is HIIT?
High Intensity Interval Training is a foundation form of training here at the Kaizen Centre Birmingham. It’s found in our martial arts classes and certainly in the MetCon Fitness sessions. But as it’s such a popular global fitness term and a much loved and hated style of training, we’ve given it it’s very own page and place in the schedule.
You’ll be alternating between moderate and high intensity levels of exercise, raising your heartbeat during the high effort phase and then taking short periods of recovery to increase the efficiency of your energy systems.
The sessions, include a thorough warm up, mobility, tuition of correct exercise technique, then…. We HIIT it!
What’s great is that the class itself is shorter, because of its intensity. Perfect for a lunchtime blast and giving you a guilt free evening off.

Every session is different and will tax your mind, body and spirit to new levels!
Beginners are encouraged to have a go, but start by working within their limits. And the results are great: Overall body conditioning, fat burning, metabolism booster and a full on buzz after a session. Just make sure you bring a towel!
From a performance enhancement point of view, HIIT style training has been around for a long time and is utilised by sportsmen and sportswomen across all disciplines. So if you want to be like the best.. Train like them!
